Just putting it out there for discussion. How does everybody handle the growths shown in the pictures and are they flowers.

How do you tell the difference between the male and female plants. Does it hurt to leave them on the plants growth wise.

Hi Michael, What you are seeing there are pollen cones. They appear in spring. If you give the branch a flick you will see all the pollen come free and float off in the air, if you had a female Black pine in the garden that produces pine cones you would end up with seedlings in your pots. Last year i had a male and female next to each other on a bench and ended up with about 8 seedlings that popped up in 1 of the pots.
