I just purchased this black pine sapling, it is my first sapling & pine. I own a decent sized Juniper & Maple currently but I am still fairly new to bonsai. I want to let it get nice and thick can anyone give me some pointers? I just purchased some bonsai soil and plan on planting it into a 1 gallon pot and just let it grow for a year or two before I do anything to it.

your on the right track, pot it up and let it grow, slip pot it up to the next size pot each season to allow more room for the roots to grow. Keep an eye on each section of the tree and try to reduce any section back to 2 shoots. If you keep all the shoots in 1 spot you will get a lot of swelling in that area. but besides that let it grow with plenty of sun, water and fertilizer.
